I have been a Certified Humanist Celebrant since January, 2001. I specialize in WEDDING CEREMONIES. I also perform baby namings, funeral or memorial ceremonies, divorce celebrations and other life passages.
If you are a Humanist, agnostic, atheist or other non-theistic couple, including gay couples (now that same-sex marriages are legal in Arizona!) I would be delighted to perform your wedding. I will work with you in designing a warm and meaningful non-religious ceremony tailored to your wishes. I have sample ceremonies which I will give you, or we can work together if you would like to write your own vows. I am located in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area, but will travel to other parts of Arizona. My fees are reasonable (with additional charges for travel).
I was president of the Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix (www.hsgp.org) for 11 years, from 2000 to 2010. I've also been a member of the American Humanist Association since 1989 and a member of the AHA Board of Directors since 2005, where I currently serve on the Executive Committee as Secretary. I am also on the Board of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), based in London.
I hold Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville. After teaching for a few years in the Miami, Fla. area, I moved to California to pursue a dream of working in the entertainment industry. I learned about Humanism from my mentor, the late Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, with whom I worked for 17 years. My book describing this journey can be found at InsideTrek.com.
I have lived in Arizona for the past 23 years. In my spare time, I enjoy travel, photography, hiking and reading, as well as spending time with my two dogs.
